PCI Pal commissioned Environics Research to survey more than 2,000 Canadians on how they judge the security of the businesses they buy from. 37% reported having been the victim of a hack, and 65% named retail as the least secure sector for protecting personal data. Most striking for anyone weighing the cost of a breach: 78% said they would stop spending with a business after one. The eBook sets out what those attitudes mean for contact centres handling card payments in Canada, and why descoping the payment environment is a commercial decision as much as a compliance one.
