This eBook reports how Australian consumers viewed data security in 2019, and what a breach costs a brand in practice. One in three Australians surveyed had already been the victim of a hack or security breach, and 43% said they would permanently stop spending with a business that suffered one. Nearly half — 49% — were uncomfortable giving credit card details over the phone at all. For any contact centre taking card payments in Australia, the findings make the commercial case for keeping cardholder data out of the agent environment rather than securing it once it is there.
