PA DSS
PA DSS (Payment Application Data Security Standard) was a set of security requirements for software vendors and developers of payment applications used by merchants and service providers to process payment card transactions. PA DSS ensured that commercial payment applications did not store prohibited data, such as full magnetic stripe data or CVV2 codes, and supported their customers’ PCI DSS compliance efforts.
The standard was retired in October 2022 and replaced by the PCI Secure Software Standard and PCI Secure Software Lifecycle (Secure SLC) Standard, which provide updated frameworks for developing and maintaining secure payment software in modern development environments.
