Protecting Telephone-Based Payment Card Data: What’s New?

In November 2018, the PCI Security Standards Council released its revised ‘Protecting Telephone–Based Payment Card Data’ information supplement.

This was the first time since 2011 that the supplement had been revised. Over those years, much had changed within the payment landscape, regulation and the technology in use.

The latest revision is underpinned by three focus areas: people, process and technology. By separating out and focusing on these three areas, the entire payment process is brought into focus and adds clarity, advice and guidance for organisations on how best to manage the risks.
